Why we chose these ingredients: We chose organic Peruvian ginger for the fresh, bold spice it contains. Though there are many fantastic ginger-growing regions around the world, Peruvian ginger is accessible, has a bold yellow color, and a strong earthy spice component. We decided to blend that with just a touch of organic cane sugar. We realize the controversy around refined sugars and do our best to limit the amounts we use. We can’t deny the fact that just a hint of cane sugar adds deep complexity to our beverages that no other sweetener can match.
Carrot Turmeric: Veg out. A tangy zing that will wake up your tastebuds, this blend of carrot, turmeric, and Peruvian ginger can tame tummies and balance well-being. Why we chose this flavor combination: So why did we decided to pair a ginger beer with the earthy flavor of carrots and turmeric? For starters, we found that carrots are one of the best vegetables for blending with other non-vegetable ingredients. They are earthy, robust, packed with nutrients and it’s an easy, familiar taste for most consumers to get behind. Turmeric has an abundance of proven health benefits, it’s part of the Zingiberaceae family along with ginger, and using just the right amount, adds a bitter, earthy punch to this “below-ground” ginger beer.

Why we chose this flavor combination: Apples are hands down our favorite fruit. Boulder, CO (where OliKo is brewed and bottled) used to be filled with fruit tree orchards. This sparked a passion for apples for our founder, Gabriel, growing up. Granny Smith’s are tart, crisp, refreshing, and contain pectin, a prebiotic. Cardamom is a Southeast Asian spice that has a unique peppery note, besides pairing amazingly with apples and ginger, cardamom is a cornerstone in Ayurvedic medicine.
